WATCH: Next Volkswagen Polo GTI spied testing

Set to hit our shores probably in 2018, the all-new Polo GTI undisguised prototype was spied while undergoing testing.

When we drove the current generation of the Polo GTI earlier this month, we never thought Volkswagen had plans to replace it anytime soon. Our sources have caught what seems to be the next-generation Polo GTI, and it looks as big as the Golf MK 4.

Set to hit our shores probably in 2018, the all-new Polo GTI prototype was spied while undergoing testing and, it looks significantly larger than the current fifth generation.

The dual exhaust tips, along with large alloy wheels backed by beefy brake callipers, are all signs of the performance version, which we hope this one might boast enough power than the 141kW 1.8 TSI of the current Polo GTI.

Volkswagen was coy with engine specifications but expect more details to emerge prior to its launch days.

As far as the next-generation Polo is expected to hit our dealership floors during the second quarter of 2017, the stouter version, the GTI, will likely follow in 2018.
