Man arrested for allegedly raping neighbour

The rape allegedly happened on Friday night at the home of the 30-year-old victim.

Johannesburg police said a 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his neighbour.

According to Johannesburg Central Police’s Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele, the arrest took place on Saturday afternoon at the Bekezela informal settlement, near Newtown, in the CBD, on the corner of Henry Nxumalo and Carr streets.

The rape allegedly happened on Friday night at the home of the 30-year-old female victim. It is alleged the victim was sleeping when the suspect broke into her home and raped her.

“[An] investigation is under way and [the] suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court,” said Mbele.
