Two people have died and four are critically injured after a head-on collision between two light motor vehicles on the N2 near Amatikulu.
The accident occurred shortly after midday today (Wednesday).
IPSS Medical Rescue and IPSS Search & Rescue attended the accident which, while obstructing the roadway, did not lead to the closure of the national route.

IPSS worked alongside KZN EMS and Rural Metro Fire Department to extricate the entrapped occupants and treat the injured.
While en route to the Amatikulu accident, IPSS came across a vehicle that had rolled between the Mvoti toll and Stanger, also on the N2.
This accident involved a single vehicle, which had reportedly rolled multiple times.
Two people suffered fatal injuries, with a further two critical and one minor.
As at 12.45pm, KwaDukuza Fire Department was working to extricate the patient.
With reports of two other accidents on the wet roads this Wednesday morning, one near eSikhaleni and one near Mtunzini, motorists are reminded to reduce speed, switch on headlights and increase following distance from the vehicle upfront.
