Things to look out for when buying a pre-owned car

Here we look at a summary of the things that one must look out for.

Buying a pre-owned car might be affordable and the quickest way of getting your hands on the vehicle of your choice.

However, there are major things to look out for before signing on the dotted line.

Here we look at a summary of the things that one must look out for.

  • Full-Service History

This must be the fundamental part of your inspection list. A full-service history will ensure you that the vehicle was well-looked after and repairs were carried as per the manufacturer’s standards.

  • Engine Leaks

Make sure you pop up the bonnet and inspect if there are no leaks. Be sure you inspect the leaks, oil level, gearbox noise, head gasket condition and exhaust smoke.

  • Body Work

Although this is simple to check. Make sure you check for dents and chips. Here you can also check the condition of the tyres.

  • Interior

Inspect the interior for any defects, warning lights and electronics.

  • Lastly…Test Drive

After checking all the above, do not be scared to ask the salesperson for a test drive. Test the car at a variety of speeds and listen for engine noises.
