Volkswagen teases facelifted Polo GTI

The refreshed Polo GTI will make its debut sometime in June and details as well as local availability to be released.

Volkswagen took the wraps off its facelifted standard Polo last month and while the model is yet to touch down on ZA soil, the German carmaker has teased yet another model, the brutal Polo in its GTI glory.

Teased in the form of a design sketch, the new Polo GTI seems to feature the familiar red accents, LED daytime running lights embedded into the honeycomb air intakes.

There is a red stripe that runs above the light bar.

There aren’t many details regarding engine specifications but the current-gen VW Polo GTI employs a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 147 kW and 320 Nm of torque.

It is only available in SA with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that enables it to dash from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds before hitting the limiter at 237 km/h.
