Virtual entertainment and events diary for Empangeni and Richards Bay

Upcoming virtual entertainment and events to diarise

AS long as social gatherings are still off-limits, events will be virtual and, although this is perhaps not as exciting as actually attending an event, it allows NPOs and charities to continue fund-raising.

Here is a line-up of events happening now, and those to come.

11 – 31 AUGUST: CANSA Jail ‘n Bail

Richards Bay residents Debbie Ferreira, Michelle Michael and Tania Algar are behind bars and need your help to be released!

This annual fun fund-raising initiative in aid of CANSA Richards Bay is being held virtually this year and supporters have until the end of the month to donate towards setting the jailbirds free.

Donations can be made via GivenGain – www.givengain.com/ap/cansa-richards-bay-jail-n-bail/ OR by EFT – CANSA: ABSA 4069840578, ref. JnB + name of jailbird.

SATURDAY, 29 AUGUST: The Market Meander

From 9am to 3pm, a variety of participating market stalls can be visited throughout Meerensee and other suburbs in Richards Bay.

Enjoy some cake and a cup of coffee, browse the many local goods on offer, and even enjoy a hearty lunch.

There is no entry fee but strict Covid-19 regulations apply.

Competition fund-raiser for Richards Bay SPCA

IT’S competition time at the Richards Bay SPCA and some wonderful prizes are up for grabs!

Most children love animals and this is the time for parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles to brag about their children or grandchildren.

All you need to do is send a short video clip of your child, grandchild, neice or nephew (aged between 4 and 8 years) explaining in their own words what the SPCA does.

This is a fund-raising initiative for the SPCA and is R100 per entry.

Tickets can be bought at the Richards Bay SPCA office at Bayview Boulevard in Meerensee during working hours (8am – 3pm, Monday – Friday).

All videos will be viewed by the SPCA committee members who will choose a winner.

Competition cut-off date is 31 August.

SATURDAY, 5 September: SANCA walk away from drugs goes virtual

SANCA Zululand has joined the realms of virtual fund-raisers, as its annual Walk away from drugs will this year go ahead in this format.

This, the 14th annual 5km fun walk is open to anyone who would like to participate.

The entry fee is R50.

For more information, contact SANCA on 035 772 3290.
