Tourists get on board

The port is geared for the 'ramping up for another busy cruise season'

FROM 10 November until 25 March, the Port of Richards Bay will welcome thousands of tourists sailing in on eight luxury cruise liners.

MS EUROPA 2 (10 November), MV ARTANIA (18 November), SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR (19 November), INSIGNIA (24 November), NAUTICA (17 December), SILVER CLOUD (15 December), AMADEA (23 January) and VOYAGER (25 March) will ferry the international and domestic guests to our shores.

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) said the port is geared for the ‘ramping up for another busy cruise season’.

‘Returning this season are Oceania Cruises with its vessels INSIGNIA and NAUTICA, Regent Seven Sea Cruises with VOYAGER, Silversea Cruises with SILVER CLOUD and MS AMADEA, owned by Amadea Shipping Company, and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ EUROPA.

‘Germany-based travel agency Phoenix Reisen, which sailed South Africa last season with the MS ALBATROS, will bring its MV ARTANIA to SA this season.

‘The passenger terminal projects fall under the Section 56 allowance of the National Ports Act 12 of 2005, which mandates TNPA to enter into agreements with private companies to design, develop, construct, maintain and operate facilities to ensure the provision of port services.’
