Top award nominations for Isethembiso Gospel

Isethembiso Gospel received two nominations at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards Announcement Party 2016 in Durban

ZULULAND award-winning gospel group Isethembiso Gospel received two nominations at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards announcement party in Durban on Wednesday.
This emerging group was selected as finalists in the Best Gospel Group and Best Community Outreach categories.
This is not their first nomination for the prestigious awards.

Previously the group received several nominations and in 2012 scooped the Best Gospel Group award.

Apart from their incredible music which keeps them on top and winning other awards such as the South African Volunteer Awards (SAVA), Isethembiso is known for their major contribution to local communities.
Not only do they develop and nurture young talented musicians from the region, but their main contribution to society is through their charity initiatives.
These programmes include building houses for the needy and assisting the elderly with food parcels.
They also empower young disadvantaged pupils in deep rural areas such as oGobandlovu, KwaMbonambi, Madlankala and KwaMthethwa.
They assist pupils with school uniforms through their ‘Back to School’ campaign and also help them with school fees, bursaries and motivational seminars.
‘We believe in education and empowering our youth,’ says founder Thembinkso Mthembu.
Their involvement in communities is what set them apart and scored them major points.

‘These nominations mean a lot to us, because we had more than 600 competing artists from Swaziland, Botswana and from all nine South African provinces.

‘We are grateful for the support of our Zululand community and structures such as the KwaDube Trust, King Cetshwayo District, and the uMhlathuze and uMfolozi municipalities who always have our backs,’ said Mthembu.
