TRADITIONAL music groups from the uMfolozi TVET College in eSikhawini campus recently scooped top honours at a provincial choral and indigenous TVET competition in Port Shepstone.

For the third consecutive year, the Ingoma Girls, mentored by lecturer Mpume Mncwabe, claimed first position in the girls’ category. They even went one better by being named overall winners, with Mncwabe being awarded the Wooden Trophy.

The college’s maskandi group also successfully defended their title.

Under the leadership of Thami Makhaye, the Umshado group earned second place.

‘These groups have made us proud and we salute their dedication and perfection. We extend our gratitude to the college’s management for their constant support in ensuring we get all the equipment and attire needed for the competition,’ said Mncwabe.
