Rugby players honored at year end function

MANCOSA Rhinos captain Dean Moolman was awarded the Player of the Year award at the Empangeni Rugby Football Club‘s (ERFC) awards dinner held on Friday evening at Mick Kelly Park.

The captain had a phenomenal season, which resulted in a call-up to the Sharks Wildebeest rural side that did duty in Kimberley last month.

Moolman started the season off at inside centre and later shifted to flyhalf, outside centre and back to inside centre as the season went on.

He took over the captaincy from 2015 Player of the Year Jors Dannhauser, who sustained a serious shoulder and knee injury.

Club chairman James McIlrath thanked the players, coaches and supporters for backing the club throughout the season, congratulating College Rovers and Durban Collegians for winning the respective premier division leagues.
