Asande chases national crown

Asande Khumalo wants to bring the Miss SA School title home

Young and vibrant Asande Khumalo (17) from eSikhaleni will represent the region and KZN at the Miss SA Schools 2016 pageant in the Northern Cape in October.

Asande hopes to impress the judges and bring the national title home.

The Mdlamfe Secondary School Grade 11 pupil was recently selected as a finalist for the prestigious pageant, the only candidate from this region.

Her entry impressed the judging panel and outshone thousands of other hopefuls.

‘My modelling instructor brought me the forms to enter but I didn’t think I will make it. I was over the moon when I learned I will be part of this prestigious event,’ she said.

Asande is no stranger to the runway.

She was crowned Queen eSikhaleni’s first princess in June after a series of auditions.

During that pageant she made a huge impression and was approached to be the face of Jabotts International Co – a photography and modelling company.

‘All I want is to use this experience to influence some changes in my community.’

Asande is passionate about working with orphans and says she wants to be more involved in assisting various orphanages.

‘I lost my father and know the pain of losing a parent. I want to help orphans in my area and raise funds to assist organisations that care for them.’

Asande is now training for her big day and remains positive that she could bring the title home.
