Robbie ‘Leeuloop’ rocks Richards Bay

Excellent local artists Jaco Nortje and Leithon van Niekerk also appeared.

ZULULANDERS braved the freezing cold and wind on Friday night at the Richards Bay Rugby Club to ‘Leeuloop’ and ‘Macarena Mambo’ with entertainer Robbie Wessels.

And they were not disappointed – he can mambo and move with the best, which is quite an accomplishment for a Free State farm boykie.

Robbie’s fine sense of humour speaks to the heart of South Africans, old and young – his lyrics are hilarious, original, ‘lekker’ local and his deep voice is easy on the ear.

Where there is a rugby match, you will find Robbie, ready with the next ref-rip-off.

Robbie became a megastar when ‘Leeuloop’ went viral and he has ever-since kept the nation laughing and singing along, but he is also renowned for his humility and patience.

His love for people is evident in the atmosphere of the shows, which are almost like reunions with old friends.

He also showed his deeper side with the beautiful gospel song, ‘Amazing Graze’ and songs such as ‘My vissermanvriend se pa’.
