One night of vernacular comedy

Simphiwe Shembe to launch his one-man comedy show in Empangeni on Saturday, 28 May

VERNACULAR comedian Simphiwe Shembe has been dishing out jokes for over 10 years, and now the funny man is ready for a one-man show.

After tickling people’s funny bones all over the country, the hilarious comic will launch the One-Night Stand at Umfolozi Casino Resort in Empangeni on Saturday, 28 May.

He is set to deliver a two-hour session of his new and old material.

The popular comedian started his career in Durban with the likes of Justice Kubheka, Sifiso Nene and Celeste Ntuli.

When you first meet Simphiwe, his love for comedy is quite evident.

For him it’s not only about making people laugh, but about providing a necessary service and building the KZN entertainment scene.

‘Its more than just jokes, it’s work which needs to be polished in order for audience to have their money’s worth,’ he said.

‘It’s the reason I only decided now to have the show, because I feel ready to deliver a top notch performance.’

Helping hand

Not only is he among the best in the country, but he now shapes other aspiring comics.

He gives them a platform through his comedy corners, the Simphiwe Comedy Connections, which travels all over South Africa.

‘Success needs to be shared. It’s not my industry or my friends’, but for all those who believe they have what it takes.

‘For our province to produce the best entertainers, we also need to contribute in educating those that follow,’

The funny but down-to-earth comic recently wowed the audience at Imbizo Hall during the Sifiso Nene and Friends show.

Not only did he receive a standing ovation, but fans declared him the highlight of the event.

The One-Night Stand show will kick-start at 7pm, and tickets are available at the Umfolozi Casino for R120.
