The creative art of Sanele

Drafting his way to the top is eSikhaleni's Sanele Mpanza

WHILE other children occupied their time by playing in the mud, Sanele Mpanza (16), was busy sharpening his drawing skills.

The Khula High School Grade 11 pupil from eSikhaleni taught himself the skill of artwork, and now the proud owner of several comic books.

His love for art started when he was in Grade 4.

He started by drafting his favourite television cartoon characters, and soon developed his own stories ideas.

He has brought to life hundreds of comic characters including Show Stoppers, Adam and Even and Abraham.

‘I have always been fascinated about drawing and animation. As a child, I would copy everything on TV, and for years they were a source of inspiration,’ he said.

The animation and graphic industry are some of the fastest growing and popular sectors of the literature market, and Sanele wants to be a big part of it.

His goal is to study towards an Animation degree, and create great stories for the young and old.

The self made cartoonist and comic book artist has worked on various projects including designing company and clothing brands.

‘What I love the most is drafting people’s expressions that showcase body language. It is something unique and I want to do for a long time,’ he said.

The young lad has sufficient talent, motivation, and perseverance to become the best in the field.
