Tourism Indaba showcases local talent

79 entrants in the Miss and Mr Tourism Queen and King contest raised R7 900 for charity

MODELS participating in the Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre’s Tourism Indaba pageant on Friday night raised a substantial amount for charity.

The 79 entrants in the Miss and Mr Tourism Queen and King contest raised R7 900, which was handed over to Thula Thula Private Game Reserve’s Rhino Fund for the protection and survival of an endangered species.

Meanwhile, shopping centre’s PRO – Angelique Wright said the week’s Indaba activities and events received phenomenal support in creating awareness about local tourism.

‘Our pageant attracts more entries every year and this enables us to support different non profit organisations with the entry fee.

‘We have donated to the Rhino Project and Emdoneni Cat Rehabilitation Centre previously.

‘Our activities during the week such as the primary and high schools art display, arts and culture talent show, cultural cooking demonstrations by Premier Hotel The Richards, tourism establishments and activity exhibitions were quite popular too.

‘The art work display and talent show afforded youngsters an opportunity to showcase and promote their talent.’
