It’s fair time again

Don't forget the Felixton Fair on 1 August.

THE Felixton College PTA is in full swing organising the third annual Felixton Fair, which is set to take place at Felixton Village’s Dickson Oval sport grounds on Saturday, 1 August.

Coming off the massive success of the 2014 event, the fair organisers have secured another exciting programme for this year, with visitors being treated to a host of entertainment fixtures and a wide variety of quality shopping stalls.

‘We have been strict when selecting our vendors, as in the past, and this has meant the fair has a reputation for offering only high quality goods and products by experienced vendors from throughout the province,’ said spokesperson Laurie Smith.

‘It remains an event that is focused on the family, and we have lined up lovely things for the kids to do while mom and dad browse – including the popular Reptile Man demonstration and an area set aside for children’s inflatables and activities.’

The fair has always had a charitable partnership on the day, and this year it is no different.

‘This year we will be supporting not one, but two worthy causes on the day. The first is the Zululand Anti-Poaching Wing (Zap-Wing), an Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife rhino anti-poaching initiative. They will be supported by the funds raised through teddy bear sales. These teddy bears are going to be dropped onto the Felixton Country Club golf course during the course of the day by the Bell helicopter – an exciting event for the children.

‘The dropped bears – hundreds of them – will then be handed to our second charitable beneficiary on the day, Izulu Orphan Projects,’ said Smith.

Other highlights from the programme include a performance by the award-winning EHS marching band, the uMhlathuze Fire Station demonstration and foam party, dance performances, clowns and more.

The event begins at 9am.
