Bongeka excels on both sides of a camera

1 KZN TV presenter and producer Bongeka 'BK' Zungu a women of many talents.

 

WHETHER in front or behind the camera, TV presenter and producer Bongeka ‘BK’ Zungu (24) is fast making a name for herself in the world of television.

The beautiful and bubbly young woman from the rural heart of KwaMakweqe Reserve, Mtunzini, wears many hats and views life through different lenses.

The KZN queen of talk was hit by the presenting bug in 2011 when she accompanied her friend for 1 KZN TV auditions in Richards Bay.

While waiting for her friend, she also decided to enter the auditions.

Through her vibrant and humble personality, Bongeka wowed the judges and was hired on the spot.

‘Television found me,’ she said.

‘I was asked to link to the ad break by the Station Manager, not knowing it was the beginning of a fruitful career,’ she said.

Her journey started with a talk show called Twenty1, where she tackled social ills affecting young people.

The 1 KZN TV presenter soon climbed the broadcasting ladder when she was offered to present and produce a talk show called Khuluma Sizwe. It highlights success stories of young KZN people.

‘The transition to Khuluma Sizwe was a highlight of my career. I get to interview celebrities and people who are making waves in the province,’ she says.

The charismatic personality with a Generic Management Diploma, aims to empower young women through her organisation, Super Woman Foundation.

‘I want to work with young girls from rural areas and teach them modelling and presenting. It is important to relay a positive message – reminding them that anything is possible when they put their minds to it. This will also help them stay away from undesirable activities.’
