Clarke and Rusch dart to title

Chris Clarke and Morgan Rusch from the East London Yacht Club claimed the 32nd annual Dart 18 National Championships title.

YOUNGSTERS Ruben Heard and Kirsten Schreuder were the first Zululand sailors home at the 32nd annual Dart 18 National Championships hosted by the Zululand Yacht Club from Saturday through to Tuesday.

The pair ended sixth overall out of 34 boats that took to the waters off the coast of Richards Bay.

Chris Clarke and Morgan Rusch from the East London Yacht Club claimed the overall victory after five races with a total of 6.0 and a nett of 4.0.

Yachties from Port Elizabeth, East London, Cape Town, Western Transvaal, Pietermaritzburg, Durban and Johannesburg descended on Richards Bay to compete in this prestigious event.

Other Zululand Yacht Club members who participated ended as follows – Wayne Bird and Charlene Kriedeman (21st), Jacques Kleyn and Arnoldt Raath (24th), Alan Levin (27th), Jaques de Moel (29th), Jacques Kruger and Chris Peens (31st), Pieter Moscicki and Werner Smit (33rd) and Ivan Beukes (34th).
