5 last-minute Valentine’s Day ideas

Don't forget Valentine's Day on Saturday, 14 February.

TOMORROW is Valentine’s Day, a whole day dedicated to love!

And even though we all know we should keep the romance alive throughout the year, Valentine’s Day comes as a reminder to spoil and celebrate the one you love. It’s also the perfect excuse to do something really cheesy!

1. MAKE A ROMANTIC DINNER AT HOME

Just because you’re cooking at home doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be romantic. Plan a special menu and buy a good bottle of wine or bubbly. How about Italian? Set a beautiful table, with your best cutlery, crockery, linen and glasses. Serve delicious homemade pasta like Tagliatelle with Salmon or Summer Linguine or how about Ricotta Gnudi with Pomodoro Sauce. End on a sweet note with Passion Fruit Pannacotta or a Chocolate Oil Cake. We even have beautiful Italian inspired menus and tags to decorate your table with. Find them here.

2. MOVIE NIGHT

Rent your favourite romantic movie for Valentine’s Day, but make it special by lighting some scented candles, decorating with fresh flowers and serving your loved one popcorn in these pretty popcorn boxes. Add a love note to the box as a special surprise, or write a love message on the bottom of the box.

3. HIDE LITTLE GIFTS & LOVE NOTES

Leave small gifts and notes for your loved one where you know he’ll find it during his morning routine. Write a message in lipstick on the mirror, or pack a special lunch with a hidden love note. How about leaving his favourite sweet treats in his bathroom cupboard or closet? We have lots of pretty love tags and cards you can download for free. Our favourites are the “You are so Sweet” tags,  music lyric inspired cards and bright “I Love You” tags.

4. LOVE VOUCHERS

Many couples like to give each other experiences instead of gifts, like a camping trip together, a visit to the coffee roastery for the coffee connoisseur or a cooking class for the avid foodie. Use these quirky love vouchersto write down your IOUs. These are great, even if you’re on a budget. Think of a few creative free experiences, like a 20 minute back rub, 20 kisses, weekday breakfast in bed or a bubble bath.

5. BREAKFAST IN BED

Everyone loves breakfast in bed, but getting spoilt with eggs on toast or flapjacks on a weekday is extra special. Decorate a tray with this “Love Note Paper Placemat” and write a love letter for your Valentine with his breakfast. Or tie this “You Warm My Heart” tag around his coffee cup.
