Ten seconds of fame

Local duo featured on KZN radio station.

Listeners across KZN were treated to some fine tunes on Sunday evening as local duo, Owald Van Schalkwyk and Nathan McNeill, also known as ’10 seconds’, appeared live on East Coast Radio. Presenter, Deon Govender, played one of the duo’s self-composed songs called ‘Saw Myself’, which was recorded in their home studio in Richards Bay.

A live interview followed, and they later performed a second song, ‘Light at the end of the tunnel’ live on air in the studio.

Govender’s show, which airs at 10pm on weekends, features new local artists and these two Grade 11 Grantleigh College pupils were thrilled to perform live on air to their biggest audience yet. Famous SA band, ‘Gangs of Ballet’ were featured on this show five years ago and has become one of South Africa’s best-selling bands.

They both draw on inspiration from their personal experiences and enjoy expressing themselves through their music.

Both pupils take music as a subject at school and plan to study music at university. The duo are working towards recording their first album in the near future.
