CLUB hockey was in full swing on Sunday when eight sides took to the astroturf at Grantleigh and battled it out in the Zululand Club Hockey League.
Four action-packed fixtures were played on the day, which resulted in 23 superb goals being scored as teams showcased brilliant individual skills combined with good teamwork.
The Empangeni and Kadenza men’s sides got the day’s action underway in a hotly contested encounter that saw Kadenza come out 4-3 victors.

Defending women’s champions Empangeni then showed the men’s side how it was done, when they beat Kadenza 4-1.
The experienced Vets women then educated the Unizulu team with a dominant 6-0 win in a one-sided affair that saw the Vets side play with no goalkeeper.
Mavericks and Unizulu men then closed off the day’s action with a fast, entertaining match-up that resulted in a 4-1 victory for Mavericks.
Club hockey will take a break over the long weekend, with teams getting back into action on Sunday, 6 May at Grantleigh.
