King Cetshwayo bowlers pave the way

King Cetshwayo pick up win on the road

THE RH Construction King Cetshwayo cricket team bowlers had the UKZN batsmen at sixes and sevens in Sunday’s Castle Premier League game played at Hammond Field, spearheading a four-wicket victory for the Zululand side.

Spinner Chad Neuhoff’s wizardry knocked over two wickets in 1.2 overs without conceding any runs, while speed merchant Neill Jordan claimed three scalps for 27 runs in 10 overs and all-rounder Ruan Janse van Rensburg contributed two wickets for 19 in 9 overs.

The students were dismissed for a dismal 84 runs in the 38th over.

While the 1.7 runs an over appeared to be a target which could be reached at a canter, the local squad made heavy weather of it, losing six wickets before reaching 85.

With the opening batsmen failing to set the pace, it was left to the middle order to restore order and set up the win.
Simon Savides top scored with 23 before being trapped LBW.

The only partnership worth mentioning was the fifth wicket stand of 26 runs after the scoreboard read 45/4 at one stage.

King Cetshwayo take on Chatsworth Sporting at Addison Park on Sunday.
