NRB share spoils in scrappy Cape match

Richards Bay FC share the points in Cape Town

ONCE again, Richards Bay FC came from a goal behind when earning a 1-1 draw away to Ubuntu Cape Town on Friday afternoon.

Live-wire forward Stanley Muishond evened matters shortly before half time after the home side took the lead early in the game.

He put the finishing touches to a well-rehearsed three man moved coach Sello Ntuli had drilled during the weak.

‘It was a tough, scrappy game,’ said Ntuli.

‘Being bottom of the log they could not afford to lose and they set out to fight for survival.

‘We did not want to lose either, and chances were few and far between.’

While the point will be welcomed, the result must be seen as disappointing for the NRB boyz, who would have hoped to scalp the lowly placed Cape team.

They have now shared the spoils in no fewer than five of the nine games played since the current NFD season started and with just a single win to their name they will have to put in a monster showing if they are to garner full points in their next fixture.

This will be a home contest against high riding Mbombela United on Saturday at the uMhlathuze Stadium.

However, Ntuli – who has not seen defeat in his two games at the helm after replacing Roger Sikhakhane – believes this might in fact be a positive.

‘Mbombela will have a totally different mindset and a more flowing game will suit our style of play.’

It’s a mouth-watering prospect and the fans need to be there in numbers to lift the local heroes.
