NRB boyz ready to roll

Richards Bay FC welcome new star on the books

THE mood is distinctly upbeat in the Richards Bay FC camp after their 0-0 draw away to National First Division log leaders Stellenbosch on Sunday.

‘It’s a game we dominated and should have won by a clear margin,’ said coach Sello Ntuli, who made an auspicious debut in his first match in charge after the departure of Roger Sikhakhane.

‘We squandered numerous chances and could have had the ball in the back of the net on many occasions when we cut open their defence.

‘Poor finishing and excellent play by the Stellenbosch goalkeeper denied us a worthy win.’

Speed and accuracy were the key elements as coach Sello Ntuli put the players through a testing training session ahead of Saturday’s clash with Uthongathi FC

However, the NRB display augers well for their home fixture against mid-table Uthongathi FC at the uMhlathuze Stadium this Saturday, kick off 3pm.

The Natal Rich Boyz will be bolstered by new acquisition Cheslyn Jampies, who has plenty of PSL experience to his name, having represented both Bloem Celtic and Jomo Cosmos.

Blessed with abundant talent, the 27-year-old left back also has a prior Bafana Bafana call-up on his CV.

He has been out of action since November last year and will take a bit of time to get back to peak performance and match fitness but is relishing the chance to reward NRB owner Jomo Biyela for the opportunity to make his come-back.

Local fans will see and hear a much more animated atmosphere in the technical area as coach Sello’s lads look for three points on Saturday before returning to the Cape to take on basement dwellers Ubuntu FC on 28 October.

Then it’s a tough home game against Mbombela United on 4 November but no reason why they should not be well up the league table by then.
