NRB coach parts ways

Sudden resignation of Richards Bay FC head coach Roger Sikhakhane

ON the eve of their toughest game of the current NFD season, Richards Bay FC head coach Roger Sikhakhane has handed in his resignation.

‘But there is no animosity on either side,’ said Natal Rich Boyz’s General Manager, Richard Makhoba, ‘and we wish him well in his future plans.’

Makhoba said Sikhakhane’s reasons for leaving were personal ones and he was in no way fired.

‘He has other interests and has also not been in the best of health in the recent past.

‘Perhaps he did not have the energy to mould and drive the new NRB club according to his playing style.’

Sikhakhane has arguably one of the best-ever coaching records in the National First Division, having led both Thanda Royal Zulu and Chippa United to PSL promotion.

‘For now we are giving every chance to assistant coach Sello Ntuli to take over from Roger,’ said Makhoba.

‘NRB have a tough outing to table-topping Stellenbosch next Saturday (14 October) and we have every confidence with Sello at the helm.

‘He has been around a long time, knows all the NFD sides and will be motivated by facing Stellenbosch, who are currently in the number one spot.

‘There is nothing wrong with our squad. We are just a few months old and still building, and Sello can take us to greater heights.’
