NO fewer than 146 golfers braved the icy, gale force wind to contribute to the Island View Shipping-sponsored NSRI benefit competition played at the Richards Bay Country Club course on Thursday.

Putting their inter-company rivalries aside and travelling from as far as Cape Town, their combined efforts were spectacular, with enough money raised to take care of Sea Rescue’s fuel bills for the next two years.
‘Thanks to the unrivalled support this annual event enjoys, the dedication of the field and the excellent organisation, this has been a record year,’ said CEO of Grindrod Shipping, Martyn Wade.
Winners of the 4-ball Alliance on 91points were Morné Malan, Bernie Wands, Bizal Hanif and Bryan Boshoff.

In second place on 89 points were Eugene Zwart, Chantell Marinus, Michelle Hagemeier and Lizelle Jacobs.
The threesome of Bronson Ramula, Ollie Naidoo and Mazwi Khuzwayo finished third with 88 points.
