Massive mission for Thanda today

Thanda head coach Roger Sikhakhane will have to bring out the best in his boys in today’s crunch match against Black Leopards

FOOTBALL fans need to get off, sneak off or take off from work today to be at the uMhlathuze Stadium for the season’s most important NFD match to date.

Thanda Royal Zulu will be hosting Black Leopards, with kick-off at 3pm, and a win here will put even more daylight between them as log leaders and the team which is lying second, nine points in arrears.

A win for the Amabhubesi will almost surely give them one hand on the league trophy and automatic promotion to the PSL.

With seven games remaining, at present Black Leopards have 39 points and the maximum they could get is 60 points (if they lose today, they can only get to 57 points).

With a massive advantage in goal difference, Thanda need just 12 more points to be assured of promotion. Should they win today, they will only need nine more from six fixtures and a possible 18 points.

So, it’s all to play for and the local fans need to be there in their thousands to cheer on the brave young lions, who have gone slightly off the boil in the last few weeks.

However, they are unbeaten at the uMhlathuze Stadium, which has been a fortress all season.

See you there at three!
