RICHARDS Bay Rugby Club fast bowler Freedom Buthelezi ripped through the eSikhawini batting line-up to claim a five wicket haul and lead his team to a comfortable 10-wicket victory in a first division T20 match played at the uMhlathuze Regional Sports Complex on Saturday.
The recently selected South African Rural cricket player ended with figures of 5/17 in 4 overs.
Richards Bay captain Ruan Janse van Rensburg won the toss and elected to bowl first.
eSikhawini’s Sandile Radebe batted through all the overs and was eventually dismissed on the last ball of the innings for 40.
His outstanding effort helped his side post 70 runs in their 20 overs.
Richards Bay wasted no time in chasing the total down, with Berto Basson (17 not out) and Paul Badenhorst (47 not out) reaching the required total in just 5.2 overs.
