World record rider to talk in Empangeni

He earned Guiness World Record recognition for the longest distance covered on a motorcycle in 24 hours by an individual without legs

BUSHY McKelvey lost both his legs in two separate motor vehicle accidents, but this has not deterred him and he is now a popular motivational speaker.

He also founded a charity organisation ‘Out on a limb’ which raises awareness and funding for various charities he supports and give motivation to other disabled people.

He earned Guiness World Record recognition for the longest distance covered on a motorcycle in 24 hours by an individual without legs.

This he achieved at the Phakisa Raceway in Welkom on 8 October 2014, when he covered a distance of 3 256.5km.

Other achievements have been a scooter trip around South Africa, a road trip from Pietermaritzburg to the ‘Roof of Africa’ on a delivery motorcycle and also a documented motorcycle journey around South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.

McKelvey will be talking at an Empangeni Lodge function at the Empangeni MOTH Hall on Saturday, 25 March, at 1.30pm.

Entry is R100 per person and there will be a cash bar and boerewors rolls on sale.
