Grantleigh swimmers dominate

Zululand inter-high gala hosted by Richards Bay Christian School at the Arboretum swimming pool

GRANTLEIGH Schools left the competition in their wake, claiming the trophy at the Zululand inter-high gala hosted by Richards Bay Christian School at the Arboretum swimming pool on Thursday afternoon.

Grantleigh racked up 997 points, 118 points more than second placed Richards Bay High (879 points).

But that wasn’t the only trophy the school bagged on the day.

Grantleigh’s Sharon Crous completed the girls open 50m breaststroke race in 42.27sec

Grantleigh swimmers Jordan Stevens and Lizelle Thompson were awarded the Senior Victor and Victrix Ludorum trophies.

Richards Bay High School swimmers Ethan Bender and Melri van Schoor picked up the Junior Victor and Victrix Ludorum trophies respectively.

Boys and girls aged U14 to U18 competed in 32 events on the day.

The programme was comprised of a 200m individual medley, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and a boys and girls 6x50m freestyle squadron race.

1 Grantleigh 997 points, 2 Richards Bay High School 879, 3 Felixton College 653, 4 Richards Bay Christian School 608, 5 Empangeni High School 582, 6 St Catherine’s School 280, 7 eShowe High School 195.
