Thanda set to bounce back

Thanda more than ready to take on Bucks

STUNG by their first loss of the season when they went down 2-0 to Pretoria University on Saturday, Thanda Royal Zulu will mean business when they step on the uMhlathuze Stadium turf on Sunday.

They are up against another strong side in Mthatha Bucks and the 3.30pm kick-off will be accompanied by huge vocal support from their loyal fans, who will be expecting a return to winning ways.

By all accounts the Tuks game could easily have swung the other way.

While making no excuses, a combination of dubious decisions by inexperienced officials who failed to blow for two blatant penalties, plus plenty of missed chances, did the damage.

But that’s water under the bridge and despite having two central defenders unavailable after accumulating yellow cards, head coach Roger Sikhakhane believes the boys will bounce back.

‘We have a solid squad and there is plenty of cover in all positions,’ he said after an intense practice session on Tuesday.

‘There is strong competition for all places and the players are hungry to show what they can do.

‘There is definitely no lacking in confidence – quite the opposite, in fact.’

Certainly, if the energy and effort on the practice pitch translates into goals on Sunday, we are in for a treat.
