Local learner smokes world champ

Speedy schoolboy gives world champ - and his dad - a hot rod hiding

RACING against a world hot rod champion and also up against his SA champ dad, proved no problem for Felixton College matriculant Jason Loosemore.

Raised on burning rubber and high octane fuel, Jason stole the show in the first leg of the 2017 National Hot Rod Tour held at The Ultimate Raceway, Vereeniging, over the weekend.

The event also saw three cars prepared by Renegade Racing of Richards Bay take top honours in the final heat.

After setting a new qualifying record of 14.97sec, Jason went on to win the final with world champion Adam Maxwell of Northern Ireland second and Neville Loosemore third in a field of 36 contestants.

All eyes will be on Richards Bay on Sunday, 30 April for the second leg of the 2017 National Hot Rod Tour.
