Thanda turn with ten point lead

Thanda stretch NFD lead to 10 points

THANDA Royal Zulu will go into the mid-season NFD break with a massive – almost unprecedented – 10 point lead at the top of the log.

They remain unbeaten after 15 games, with 10 wins, five draws and a goal difference of plus 20.

Their majestic position was consolidated with a 1-0 away win against Stellenbosch FC on Saturday, a day that also saw closest chasers Real Kings stunned by a 2-1 loss to Black Leopards.

Boikanyo Komane stole the three points with a second half goal at Coetzenberg as the Amabhubesi retained their unblemished record.

Once again, Siyabonga Mbatha in the goals and the rock solid defenders at the back did not concede a goal.

Their record of only leaking 10 goals in 15 matches has as much to do with their terrific position as does the 20 goals the strikers and midfielders have buried.

In a nutshell, the achievements to date reflect a fighting spirit on the field that has been ignited by the coaching team led by Roger Sikhakane.

As Thanda Chairman, Pierre Delvaux says: ‘It’s team work that makes the dream work’.

The Amabhubesi will resume matters on 12 February when they take on Mbombela at home.

Rest assured, there will be no more easy games.

Every one of the NFD contenders will be out ‘lion hunting’ as the race for PSL promotion really begins to hot up in 2017.
