Coastals claim comprehensive win

Opening batsman Pieter Strydom top scored with a quick fire 48 off 50 balls

THE KZN Coastal cricket team claimed a comprehensive 92 run victory over Free State in a CSA Rural Provincial One Day match played in Kroonstad on Saturday.

KZN batted first and reached 213 all out in 49.5 overs, with number six batsman Imtian Hatiya (52 not out) leading the charge.

Alveiro Nadasen (42 off 88 balls) and Simon Savides (35 off 63 balls) also contributed with the willow.

Mpho Ramathibe (3/33 in 8.5) and Bisto Setoaba (2/25 in 7) were the pick of the home side’s bowling attack.

Free State fell short of the target, being dismissed in the 31st over for 121, thanks to Richards Bay’s Ruan Janse van Rensburg 4/27 and Chad Neuhoff 2/12.

Opening batsman Pieter Strydom top scored with a quick fire 48 off 50 balls before getting dismissed from Janse van Rensburg.

‘It was a comprehensive win for us and we should now be through to the CSA week in Cape Town in February,’ said KZN team manager Bryan van Aswegen.

KZN still have to play Gauteng on Saturday and Limpopo on Saturday, 21 January.
