Lower priced Everests launched

Buyers can now get the SUV in 2.2 TDCi with the option of a six-speed manual

FORD has boosted the Everest range by adding an additional six models to the line-up.

Initially the Everest was only available with Ford’s five-cylinder 3.2 TDCi in XLT and Limited spec, and with four-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic gearbox, but now buyers can also get the SUV in 2.2 TDCi with the option of a six-speed manual in addition to the existing auto, and two or four-wheel drive.

Whereas the XLT used to be the lowest priced model at R634 900, you can now drive away in the XLS 2.2 Manual for R453 900.

The 2.2 TDCi remains unchanged from the unit doing duty in the Ranger, with power being rated at 118kW and 385Nm of torque.

One extra 3.2 derivative was added in the form of the Everest 3.2 TDCi XLT AT, which is 4×2.

Power and torque outputs for the 3.2-litre turbo-diesel also remains at 147kW at 470Nm as before.

A four-year/120 000km warranty and five-year/100 000km service plan is standard across the range.
