Table top Thanda take time out

Weekend break for triumphant Thanda

WITH no National First Division soccer games scheduled for this weekend, Thanda Royal Zulu have the opportunity to prepare thoroughly for upcoming fixtures that will see them fighting to retain their pole position and unbeaten status.

They showed against Tuks last Sunday that, like good boxers, they have the ability to slug it out as well as to show the rope-a-dope tricks and fancy footwork.

There’s no doubt Roger Sikhakhane’s troops have plenty of determination and are not afraid of physical confrontation.

And they will need this characteristic more and more as the season progresses.

We are already seeing teams taking their tackles to extreme levels in an attempt to stop the Thanda play makers.

The Amabhubesi’s next match is a KZN derby on 20 November away to AmaZulu, followed a week later by the visit of Jomo Cosmos.

Both these sides are looking to bounce back after good starts and mediocre performances of late.

And while they have smashed home plenty of goals this season, for now all that matters for Thanda is the three points for the win every time they trot out.

A third of the season has flown by and the NFD pack will be snapping at their heels, trying to reduce Thanda’s five point lead at the summit.
