ALEX Tulleken successfully defended his Zululand squash title by beating Tiaan van Wyk in a thrilling five-set final at the Empangeni Country Club recently.
Tulleken eventually took the title in the last round 15-10, after both players recorded two set wins.
Van Wyk took the first set 15-10, before Tulleken bounced back to claim the second and third sets 15-8 and 15-13 respectively.
But Van Wyk refused to go down without a fight and took the fourth set 15-6, forcing the decider.
Grantleigh’s Albero Els beat Denzil Lohrmann 3-2 in the third place play-off match.
A total of 32 players participated in this years championships over a four week period.
