Great catches recorded all round

There have been good catches of kob and garrick around Richards Bay, as well as a number of flatfish of all sorts

THE improvement of weather and sea conditions along the Zululand coastline of late, has resulted in good catches being recorded and reported.

Cape Vidal has had massive numbers of shad in the area which have been of a good size and are also working very well as bait for larger flatfish such as diamond rays, honeycombs and also a few blackfin sharks.

Live shad slid out have also produced a number of garrick.

There have been good catches of kob and garrick around Richards Bay, as well as a number of flatfish of all sorts.

The Bay has handed many a grunter to anglers fishing from boats and from the side, most of which have been larger than in previous weeks.

Zinkwazi has had a number of grey sharks in the evenings, which anglers have targeted with various spinning outfits and medium-sized throw baits.

Sandsharks and good sized shad have been caught in the mornings.

Kosi Bay has had a bit of a quiet spell with the inedibles, with the exception of a few flatfish, allowing anglers to spend their time concentrating on edibles such as stumpies and wave garrick.

These fish were targeted on small chokka baits on light tackle.

Most anglers fishing in the lakes managed a few decent kingies on fly and drop shot as well.

With the grunter slowly but surely coming on the bite now, anglers will start to flock to these popular waters and try their luck at long lining.
