Hume claims double win

Competitors had to complete the track three times, racing a total distance of 120km

CALVIN Hume accelerated his way into top spot at the fourth and fifth round of the SA National Liquorland Series held in the Swineburne area over the weekend.

Hume continues to dominate in the High School Class, having five first place finishes under his belt.

But the win did not come easily, as the tough terrain tested the riders with a mix of different terrain and elevations.

The 40km track was set in the farming area, starting in the lowlands and ending up in the mountains of the berg range.

Riders raced 1960 metres above sea level, before dropping down steep mountain paths to 1200 metres.

Competitors had to complete the track three times, racing a total distance of 120km.

The track had three different stages set in it, namely a moto x stage, a tech stage and an enduro stage.

The tech stage took riders through washed out gullies and up steep mountain trails, before heading into the enduro stage, which had a mix of donkey paths, single track rocky ups, fast flowing jeep tracks and mountain passes.

The next National takes place in October in Hiedelberg, which will be the last National for the 2016 season.

Hume will aim to keep up his winning form and make it a perfect racing season buy taking the final National, come October.
