Umfolozi utilises home advantage

Players competed in teams of three, completing 18 holes on each course over the two days

UMFOLOZI utilised their home ground advantage with their first and third teams winning the B and C Divisions respectively at the Zululand inter-club golf competition played at the Monzi Country Club and Umfolozi Country Club last weekend.

Players competed in teams of three, completing 18 holes on each course over the two days.

Players in the A Division had to have a maximum individual handicap of 10 and a combined handicap of 24, with the B Division requiring an individual handicap of 18 and 42 combined.

The C Division individual handicap had to be over 18 and less than 43 combined.

A and B division players followed a medal format over 36 holes, with the C Division playing IPS.

Monzi’s A Sherrard, W Liebrandt and B Johnson claimed the A Division title after carding 497 gross, with Umfolozi’s H Thompson, B Alward and S Gielink claiming the B Division title after shooting a gross of 525.

Umfolozi’s D Swanepoel, T Curry and N Louw mustered up 190 points to claim the C Division title.

Results

A Division – 1 Monzi 1 A 497 gross.
B Division – 1 Umfolozi 1 525, 2 Monzi 1 542 and 3 Umfolozi 2 554.
C Division – 1 Umfolozi 3 190 points, 2 eShowe 1 180 points and 3 Empangeni 1 172 points.
