IT was like an old western movie’s three-way stand-off at the Zululand Squash Club golf day at the Richards Bay Country Club on Saturday, when the top three spots had to be decided through count-outs after all three pairs carded 47 points.
In the end Mike Byars and partner in crime Johan Stone won the shoot-out to claim the bragging rights.
Richards Bay’s Kevin Green and Danie van Vuuren finished second, with Ro-Juan Hills and his damsel Michelle Hagemeyer settling for third.
Eighty-four players followed a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford format over 18 holes.
The course was well prepared, with short, hard and fast fairways that allowed for extra bounce and roll and well manicured greens.
All funds raised on the day went to the squash club for development projects.
