The third and final day of the popular annual competition was shifted to Saturday after rain ruled out play on Sunday

RICHARDS Bay’s Leon Bence shot seven over par and carded 42 points to win the final day of the Nkwazi golf day played at Richards Bay Country Club on Saturday.

The third and final day of the popular annual competition was shifted to Saturday after rain ruled out play on Sunday, 17 July.

Bence literally played out off his shoes, shooting 78 with a 13 handicap.

He took nine holes to find that perfect swing, shooting 41 on the first nine which only included one birdie.

After a pit-stop at the halfway house, Bence managed to find his game which resulted in him shooting one over par (37) over the second nine.

Golfers followed an Individual Player Stableford format over 18 holes.

N Steenkamp finished in second spot with 40 points, followed by G Cullom on 39.

Local golfers will be in action once again on Saturday at the Richards Bay Country Club when they participate in the NG Kerk sponsored day.

But this time competitiors will follow a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford format over 18 holes.
