Squash lessons from the top guns

The day was all about squash development, with the aim of growing the game. But it also served as a fund-raising event for the club.

LOCAL squash enthusiasts were spoilt when four South African and world ranked squash players presented a coaching/playing session at the Empangeni Country Club Top SA player/coaching clinic on Saturday.

Stephen Coppinger, who recently won the men’s SA championship singles title and is currently ranked 24th in the world, was joined by SA ladies singles champion Siyoli Waters (54th in world), Shaun le Roux (79th in world) and Alexandra Fuller (71st in world) to put local players through their paces.

The day was all about squash development, with the aim of growing the game. But it also served as a fund-raising event for the club.

Players of all ages took to the courts for an in-depth training session, before the professionals took on the top Zululand players.

The day’s court action was ended with two exciting exhibition matches before a talk and dinner in the clubhouse.
Marriott Investments. Zululand Observer and MJ Trusts got on board to make the day possible.
