DESPITE the chilly weather conditions which included icy winds and patchy rainfall, golfers still made their way to the Empangeni Country Club to participate in the annual Empangeni Rugby Football Club golf day on Saturday.

Participants followed a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford format over 18 holes.

The duo of Willie van Rooyen (18 handicap) and Victor Campher (12 handicap) proved lethal, when the two won the day after carding 46 points. Campher was on fire, with a handful of birdies and pars during his round of 77.

The two walked away with a weed eater and a two night stay at the Umfolozi Casino Resort.

Jors Danhauser and Carel Swart tied with JC Klaasen and Andy Anderson for second place after both pairs carded 44 points.

Gerrit Dekker and Clyde Watson filled up the podium places in third with 42 points.

All proceeds raised on the day went towards the club for certain projects.
