New era for Bok rugby

Boks to take on the luck of the Irish

THERE are numerous changes in the green and gold camp that will hopefully help towards getting the Boks back into the number one position in world rugby.

Fans can look forward to a mix of fresh faces including a new coach, captain and an array of young and old players.

This line-up will be tested on Saturday 11 June, when newly appointed coach Allister Coetzee and his new-look Springbok squad go up against the Luck of the Irish.

Captain Adriaan Strauss is beaming with confidence and cannot wait for the challenges ahead that are expected during the international season.

The squad met in Stellenbosch for a practice session which went well and added to the excitement within the camp.

Coetzee managed to select players in form and it will be interesting to see how they cope on the world stage.

New faces that have crept into the squad are Garth April (flyhalf), Ruan Combrinck (wing), Faf de Klerk (scrumhalf), Nic Groom (scrumhalf), Steven Kitshoff (prop), Jaco Kriel (flank), Bongi Mbonambi (hooker), Sikhumbuzo Notshe (flank) and Scarra Ntubeni (hooker).

The Boks will take on Ireland at DHL Newlands in Cape Town on Saturday 11 June, then at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg on Saturday 18 June and finally at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday 25 June.
