Zululand hockey teams named
Zululand hockey to compete at KZN Country Districts tournament in May
LOCAL club hockey players left everything on Grantleigh School’s astroturf pitch on Sunday at the Zululand club trials, leaving the selectors with a tough task.
After some serious end-to-end action, the Zululand teams to compete in the KZN Country Districts hockey tournament in Pietermaritzburg was named.
This year’s tournament will be hosted by Zululand, but owing to the shortage of facilities here, the tournament will be held in Pietermaritzburg (13-14 May).
Teams
Men’s A team – Jonathan van den Berg, Darryn Mitchell, Ebden Gibson, Craig Campbell, Du Toit Pretorius, Daryl van der Merwe, Rob O’Conner (captain), Clarke Bishop, Nanae Owusu-Sekye, Dane Antill (vice captain), Theo Raubenheimer, Andre Pretorius, Storm Blignaut, Phakamani Mthethwa, Anthony Meij (manager) and Leigh Hornby (coach).
Men’s B team – Philani Mthethwa, Katlego Shakwane, Kenny Oscroft, Dane Swart (vice captain), Chris McMurtry, Mathew Kirkwood, Lazar Holmes, Tristan Porter, Tyron Ferraris, Peter Harel, Sam Bo-Amponsem, Ace Thwala, Daniel Swanepoel, Anthony Meij (captain and manager) and Leigh Hornby (coach).
Ladies A team – Isabel Mkhabela, Lolly Prinsloo (vice captain), Tessa Gouge, Karen Schulze, Linda Joubert, Luanda Mzulwini, Jade Boyder, Kristin Klusener (captain), Laurisa Badenhorst, Mari-Lee Visser, Marietjie Vermaak, Ané Pretorius, Chantel Marinus, Michelle Emery, Ailsa Blignaut (manager) and Cindy Smith (coach).
