Felixton still in the race for first division crown

Felixton demolish eSikhawini at home

FELIXTON’S Trevor Kietzmann (61) and Neill Jordan (74) put on a 135 run third wicket partnership in their First Division T20 match against eSikhawini on Saturday in Felixton.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat first on a hard, flat and ‘sticky’ pitch which took the pace off the ball.

Felixton got off to a disastrous start, with the scoreboard reading 0/2 after two balls.

But thanks to the Kietzmann and Jordan rescue act, the scoreboard looked more respectable at 164/4 at the close of innings.

Philani Cuambe was the best bowler with figures of 3/16 in 4.

Needing to score over 8 runs per over was always going to be a tough ask for the visiting side against Felixton’s diverse bowling attack.

eSikhawini gave it a good go, but were bowled out for 122 to hand the home side a 42 run victory.

Opening batsmen Bright Nkwanyana (35 not out) and Sphelele Sibiya (38) top scored for their side, with Jordan ending with bowling figures of 3/19 in 4.

Felixton will host Empangeni Rugby Club in their next game, with Richards Bay Rugby Club playing Brackenham at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex today to decide which two teams will qualify for the finals.
