eShowe and Richardsbaai Hoër take the honours

eShowe High School (girls) and Richards Bay High School (boys) crowned champions at the annual Saints Soccer Challenge .

SEVEN local schools took to muddy pitches at the 4th annual Saints Soccer Challenge held on Saturday at St Catherine’s School.

Playing 15 minute matches, teams collected three points for a win, two points for a draw with goals scored and one point for a goalless draw.

The boys’ section was hotly contested, which saw the top three spots having to be decided on goals scored after all three sides finished on seven points.

After the calculations were done, Richardsbaai Hoërskool was crowned champions after having scored five goals, with Empangeni High finishing second on two goals and Grantleigh Schools third with one goal.

The girls section saw eShowe High claiming the bragging rights by two points ahead of Felixton College.

Eagle Creek Spur sponsored the medals for the winning schools, with Brightmed Ambulance sponsoring its medical services for the day.

Final log standings

Girls – 1 eShowe High School 13, 2 Felixton College 11, 3 Empangeni High 8, 4 Richardsbaai Hoërskool 7, 5 Grantleigh Schools 7, 6 St Catherine’s School 4 and 7 Richem Secondary 2 points.

Boys – 1 Richardsbaai Hoërskool 7 points, 2 Empangeni High 7, 3 Grantleigh Schools 7, 4 eShowe High School 4, 5 Felixton College 4 and 6 Richem Secondary 0.
