Husband and wife duo putt to victory
Willem and Anne-Thea Dippenaar won the Christmas in July golf day on Saturday at the Empangeni Country Club
THE husband and wife duo of Willem and Anne-Thea Dippenaar celebrated ‘Christmas’ early this year when winning the Christmas in July golf day at Empangeni Country Club on Saturday.
The pair carded 45 points to beat 90 competitors on the day.
Players followed a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford format over 18 holes.
A total of R15 000 was raised on the day which was donated to the Empangeni Senior Citizen Association which will be used in building a Care Centre at Leisure Gardens, Empangeni.
A total of 25 sponsors climbed on board, with eight tables entertaining the golfers all along the course.
‘On behalf of Christmas in July 2015 we would like to thank the community for supporting the Empangeni Senior Citizens Association and our charity event. It is great to see that no matter how much negativity is going on in the community, people are willing to jump on board and support an initiative like this one,’ said Christmas in July coordinator, Isabelle Sander.
Shaun Francis and partner Jeff McGregor claimed second spot with 44 points, with Frikkie van Zyl and Cas Knoetze ending in third on 43 points.
Dagwood van Vuuren won the Christmas Raffle.
