THE KZN Coastal U13C team snatched silver at the U13 Inter Provincial Hockey Tournament held in Bloemfontein from 1 to 3 July.
Cate Oxley and Beth Oxley of Felixton College, with Hannah Hodgson and Boniswa Sibiya of Grantleigh Schools represented the Coastal side that won six out of six pool matches.
KZN C beat Southern Gauteng (B) 4-1, Lejwelle (A) 3-0, Eastern Gauteng (B) 5-1, Northern Blue Daisies (B) 3-0, Eastern Free State (B) 2-0 and KZN Inland (B) 1-0.
By ending top of their pool, the team qualified automatically for the final.
Unfortunately the side went down 1-0 to Southern Free State (B) which secured the team a silver medal.
The girls’ KZN Coastal B side ended 9th, the boys’ KZN Inland (B) team ended third, the boys’ KZN Coastal (C) team ended second, with the boys’ KZN Coastal (B) team winning the tournament.
